Mahendra Singh Dhoni (born 7 July 1981) is an Indian international cricketer who captained the Indian national team in limited overs formats from 2007 to 2016 and in Test cricket from 2008 to 2014. He is a wicket-keeper batsman who is known for his aggressive batting style. Dhoni is the only captain to have won all three major ICC trophies, the Cricket World Cup, the ICC Champions Trophy, and the ICC World Twenty20. He is also the only wicket-keeper to have scored more than 10,000 runs in ODI cricket.

Dhoni was born in Ranchi, Bihar, India. He started playing cricket at a young age and was selected for the Indian national team in 2004. He made his ODI debut against Bangladesh in 2004 and his Test debut against Sri Lanka in 2006. Dhoni was appointed captain of the Indian ODI team in 2007 and the Test team in 2008.
