Damar Hamlin A Valuable Asset to the Buffalo Bills
Damar Hamlin was born on March 24, 1998, in McKees Rocks,
Pennsylvania. He attended Central Catholic High School, where he was a
four-star recruit and played cornerback. He was named first-team All-State and
the Class AAA Defensive Player of the Year.
Hamlin committed to play college football at the University of
Pittsburgh. He played in 48 games for the Panthers over five seasons, recording
196 tackles, 10 interceptions, and 5.5 sacks. He was named honorable mention
All-ACC as a redshirt sophomore and second-team All-ACC as a senior.
Hamlin was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round of
the 2021 NFL Draft. He spent most of his rookie season as a backup, but he
started all 17 games in 2022. He recorded 63 tackles, 1 interception, and 2
fumble recoveries.
On January 2, 2023, Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest after making
a tackle in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He was taken to the hospital
and underwent surgery. He was released from the hospital a few days later and
made a full recovery.
Hamlin is a rising star in the NFL. He is a physical and
versatile safety who can play in the box or in coverage. He is also a leader on
