History of Tamilnadu

History of Tamilnadu  Part -1

The history of Tamil Nadu is long and rich, dating back to at least the 3rd century BC. The region was home to three ancient Tamil dynasties: the Cheras, Cholas, and Pandyas. These dynasties were powerful and prosperous, and they left behind a legacy of great art, architecture, and literature.

In the 13th century, the Chola dynasty declined, and the Pandyas became the dominant power in the region. However, the Pandyas were eventually overthrown by the Vijayanagara Empire in the 15th century.

The Vijayanagara Empire ruled Tamil Nadu for over a century, but it eventually collapsed in the 16th century. This led to a period of political instability in the region, which was eventually filled by the arrival of the British.

The British East India Company established a trading post in Madras (now Chennai) in 1639. Over the next few centuries, the British gradually extended their control over Tamil Nadu. By the early 20th century, the British had complete control over the region.

Tamil Nadu gained independence from the British in 1947. The region became a state of the Republic of India in 1956.
